If someone sends me an appropriate email address I will forward it. I plan to send the document to local newspapers hoping people will contribute to your organization. But I can't find actual contact info on this website. | | | Post Reply | Display replies to this message

| | Date: | 1/14/2010 11:38:17 AM | | Subject: | Haiti - Shelter Refief Efforts | | | My name is Kenny Gnann, I am with Faith Baptist Church Church Winter Haven, FL (www.faithbaptistwh.org). We are deep in the process of attempting to provide new homes in Haiti to replace some of the many that were destroyed. We are aware other efforts that are more important are being done as we speak. We want to be ready to come in right behind the emergency workers ASAP and fill the gap with a portion of the shelter/homes that will need to be replaced so people will have safe and permanant places to sleep, rest, heal, and ultumately live. What we are looking for is quick safe passage into the country to start the process, we cannot even raise funds until we have a complete plan in place and passage is a key component of the plan. We will also be asking for anyone who can provide in country logistics for help to get the building materials to the home sites. Any help offered to us in this effort wouls be greatly appreciated and blessed for sure. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide in the above matters. Dear Friends.
We are so grateful for all of your prayers. We have heard from so many of you who have said you are praying for Haiti during this very difficult time.
This is where we are...I just talked with a pastor whose family is without food and water and the clothes on their backs is all they have left. He said, "Can you help us?" Sadly I told him that at this time we cannot get in and they cannot get out. Many people, including our pastors, have been on the roofs of their housed for over 36 hours. One pastor had a little sugar and has been mixing it with the rain water for his family.
One of our pastors was standing in his yard, when his wall broke...the water rushed in and took him out in a rush. Several people jumped in and pulled him from the waters. He is covered with scratches, but is doing OK. BUT he lost his house and everything else.
I asked Pastor Desvariste if someone could come from the North down. He said there is no way to get in. So I asked what about the UN. It is supposed to be helping. But he said that the church people do not get anything because when anything is brought there is so much fighting to get the food.
So we have a big problem. The superintendents are meeting on Friday with the missionaries to see what we can all do. We need your prayers. We need God's wisdom, creative thoughts, and His plans...step by step. Pray for our precious people who are suffering so much. One of our students' sisters has not eaten for 3 days. This is representative of thousands.
Jeanne
We need to seriously be praying for our Haitian brothers and sisters. | | | Post Reply | Display replies to this message

From our window we see many demonstrations, windows up and down our main route in sight of our window are broken. Stores are destroyed. Gas station pumps ripped from the ground. We hear some gunshots and see UN vehicles rolling up all the streets. The vendors are not able to function.
The people are starving and are tired of the prices that have doubled in the last 6 months. President Preval is supposed to talk to the people today, but it seems like he will never begin.
Please pray that the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus Christ, will intervene with the mighty angels of heaven to calm the situation and make His Pearl of Antilles shine again.
For His kingdom to fully come to Haiti and the world, Jeanne and Jack
